Taytay Bay
Taytay Bay is an interesting place to explore. Protected from high winds, this place abound with different islands, scenic views and pristine beaches erstwhile undiscovered. The tall cliffs of Apulit Island, and along many islands, serve as habitat for the much sought edible nest of cave swifts. Located tens and even hundreds of meters above sea level, the crevices are allocated by locals among themselves. There are even fights, sometimes deadly, for occupying those territories.
Unlike the rock climbers who do their climbing for the sake of glory or just plain test of their skill, local folks scale the steep, rocky limestone formations in search of gold-priced nest made of saliva of birds as their livelihood. For those who fail, it may mean the end of their lives.
Passing through these cliffs, I had the opportunity to visit one of the three pearl farms in Taytay together with my high school classmates. We visited the Pearl Farm Beach Resort east of the bay. The place is so beautiful and alluring for picnic, camp or swimming. The water is so clear that you can even see fishes swimming about at a distance. I could not resist taking my camera out and snapped some scenes which I used to grace the picture gallery (see pictures of the clear waters and the white sand beach in this site).
