New Article on Wildlife
It's a pain preparing a simple article on wildlife found in Palawan. I just finished preparing an article on the white-bellied sea-eagle I visited last week together with my sister and niece at the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center (PWRCC), once well-known as the Crocodile Farm (but still is popular by that name).
I thought my picture of the white-bellied sea-eagle is better than the previous one I took last year together with a friend. I applied a recent technique I learned in photography and I'm quite pleased with the results. Although not really confined to Palawan, I added this bird in the list to showcase animals found in Palawan.
I did a little tweak of my original shot using Gimp, a free graphics application that runs under the Linux operating system which I installed a few months ago. I removed the background to highlight the bird and I believe you will love to see it. I am not that familiar with Gimp but I successfully removed the grass background using the loop, free select tool. I pasted my selection to a blank sheet and did a little brush effect. It took me some time because I am not adept yet in using this graphics application but I easily learn things like this.
Also, please note that I uploaded a better picture of the Palawan bear cat using a picture I took also from the PWRCC plus a better shot of the wild bearded pig upon seeing that the pictures I placed there are not that clear and appealing. I believe you will love looking at the pictures especially the cute bearcat and the blue-eyed pig. I never thought that the eye of the wild pig is blue. Have you ever seen that? Or am I just imagining things?
I resolve to post better pictures that load fast in this site from now on. This is after learning techniques on how to render webpages better by making the pictures lighter to load. You'd better see it and enjoy the pictures while learning a little about these animals. So wait for my next post and learn more about Palawan. - par
