Underground River or Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park
The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (PPSRNP) or more popularly called the "Underground River" is the major tourist attraction of the City of Puerto Princesa in Palawan, Philippines. It gained recognition as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature on January 28, 2012. Because of this worldwide acclaim, thousands of tourists from all over the globe flock to Puerto Princesa.
The natural attraction complemented by other interesting tourist destinations all over the Province of Palawan provide economic opportunities and upliftment to the locals as well as the country and changed the way of life of the people in the erstwhile serene place. Vans, buses, and private cars visit the site everyday. Flights to Palawan have also increase from just three to 29 flights a day.
The underground river can be accessed from downtown Puerto Princesa in about two hours. Tourists can enjoy the scenery along the road while travelling or drop by two viewdecks located in Barangay Salvacion and Barangay Buenavista. A few kilometers from the river, ugong rock is a popular stopover. Ugong rock has a zip line installed from the top down along a stretch of farmland.
